Hello Folks, according to the dune-devel mail list from May 2022, Alberta will be have a new release, yay.

On other hand, I detect the commit that made tests dune-grid 2.9-git failed.

Stay safe.

Hi everyone, the problem related to rpc headers was solved by Debian with this 3.0.1-2ubuntu2 hirsute patch and moved to unstable :-)

I will test alberta with above patch, fix the url source as suggests below, dune-grid-2.9-git is linking well with alberta-3.0.3 and consider enable FEM toolbox in the next weeks. Any comment is welcome.

Hi @ftschindler, thank you so much for the comments.

Few months ago, upgraded this orphaned package. Since we found a problem with rpc library. I found the solution in the aur lash package. (A few months ago I wrote an email notifying this lash solution to the maintainer of dune-common in aur for a very similar problem that there was with dune-uggrid 2.7.1, in version 2.8 they stopped using the rpc library.)

And after compile, its works. On the other hand, in the dune website founded the url upstream. Finally, the flags were taken from https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/alberta/-/blob/master/debian/rules

I am open to suggestions and it would be nice to be able to improve this package, for example, with what other package do you have in mind that alberta works as a dependency.

Also this work could help https://salsa.debian.org/pjaap/alberta

I think that alberta is working fine (alberta tests pass in both versions of dune-grid) with dune-grid-2.7.1 but if fails with dune-grid-2.8.0 when we create with duneproject.

Attention to the news about alberta 2021/9/16

Before a possible update, I will take your recommendation about the source url.

Issue: Builds broken libdunealbertagrid3d.so - it isn't linked with alberta shared libraries

@lubgr I just noticed that you included some major changes in the configure flags with your recent commits. In particular, Albertas FEM toolbox is now disabled. Do you intend to keep it that way?

ftschindler commented on 2021-08-17 08:08 (UTC)

The URL does not include the minor versions, so an upstream update (say to 3.x) will lead to a local Albreta package of version 3.0.3 that actually contains Alberta 3.x. A more sensible choice might be something like

source=("https://gitlab.mathematik.uni-stuttgart.de/ians-nmh/${pkgname}/${pkgname}3/-/archive/releases/${pkgver}/${pkgname}3-releases-${pkgver}.tar.bz2")

Hi @lubgr, I would like kindly ask you if you check this PKGBUILD because it builds alberta with 3.0.3 version. Thank you!

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm currently waiting for an answer regarding the availability of the sources and will keep you up to date.

I have the 3.0.1 source (md5sum: 8211248c997fe4fe501f0831231e65f4). I could host it in the interim if there is interest and the maintainer is willing to use it. I suppose we should determine there is any value staying on 3.0.1 instead of 3.0.0 if upstream seems to have lost it.

The sources at are apparently not available anymore at the link given above. Couldn't find a valid alternative link, also the links at the website www.alberta-fem.de are outdated. Maintainers of that website are informed, but haven't fixed the issue till now.
