not sure if you are aware but i recently opened up an issue for this problem at the respective github repo.
if its working for you then i dont really understand how as it happens on both my arch install and a fresh install of arch in a vm.
unrelated to this, there was an issue with arctica-greeter not loading up due to some problem with the latest version of mate-settings-daemon so maybe this has a similar issue?

tempuSr12:
Could you please search for and delete all ayatana-indicator-notifications files from your system and do a fresh install from the AUR (or the repositories if you're using Manjaro).
If the problem persists, it would be good to open an issue on the GitHub page, we'll look into it.

im not sure if its a problem specifically with the ayatana indicators or my arch install but when i get a notification, the notifications indicator seemingly is not updating.
its not showing up in the notification history nor is it updating the icon to indicate a past notification has occurred however the do not disturb feature is working fine (its blocking all notifications).
is this a misconfiguration on my part?

@tempuSr12:
Thanks for reporting this. The default install prefix is missing from the project. I've corrected it, a new release is coming soon.

i think this has a problem.
when installing this, it works but the notification will not display at all.
i think this problem is caused by non-configured directories.
using this makepkg fixes this problem for me.
