pkg-config is a part of base-devel and assumed to be installed whenever compiling packages. Please check the wiki for more information.

pkg-config is missing from makedepends.

You'd think so. But it doesn't have a lot of votes, and no TU has offered to take it over.

I am curious why this tool is still in AUR. Most distro have it in their repositories at least. I think it should be in core.

Ahh, I was having trouble figuring out how you got an old version. I must have forgotten to push it to aur3 before. :)

Oh, I see. I used cower to download this package, and missed that it downloaded from old AUR, where there's no such crc64.patch. Thanks.

Uh, I'm using it on my desktop, and it builds in the VM I have at work as well using GCC 5.1.0 (fully updated system). The only patch required was that crc64 one. I've already discussed it on the bug report upstream. It's fixed in git, and I ported the Debian patch in to this package a few weeks ago (crc64.patch). Make sure you're using the latest version of this package please. (also out of date is for out of date, not problems with package)

This package, doesn't compile in current Arch. I think this patch solves the problem: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.bcache.devel/2916

That should be all that you need. It will store which device the cache is attached to, and the udev rule in this package will attach them. Did you add the bcache hook and module to mkinitcpio.conf?
