Re xdg-mime. Commands in PKGBUILD are run on the build machine, which is not necessarily the machine the program will be run on. So it should be removed.
If you want to run the command, you need to make sure it is available with depends.

@mathix I'm thinking about retiring the -latest- package in favor of this one. Also, seems a -v3- package is needed because some users are having problems with v4. Would you want to create/comaintain it? (Probably won't be anything to do except retire it when upstream eventually removes the link.)

It's required to do the mime association between the desktop file and the actual mime type.
Actually I believe this is automatically handled by the shared-mime-info hook (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_MIME_Applications). Since no other application handles x-scheme-handler/beeper, this will automatically be the default.
It seems to work for me even though I completely removed the xdg-mime lines.

PKGBUILD: line 82: xdg-mime: command not found
Why is it needed to call xdg-mime default in package()? I don't think it's needed for x-scheme-handler/beeper and it may not be desired for x-scheme-handler/matrix and x-scheme-handler/element.
I'm worried this won't work correctly when built in a chroot, so I removed the lines from the PKGBUILD. If it's needed, xdg-utils should be added to makedepends.

no caching problem, other aur-packages got successful updated. forcing a Cleanbuild did the trick.
