Hi, I have finally found the solution (printer connected through ethernet) which should be publish here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Brother_DCP-7065DN&redirect=no and/or can be printed in post package installation on sysout. 1. yaourt -S brother-dcp7065dn 2. systemctl restart org.cups.cupsd 3. open website: http://localhost:631/admin > Add printer - type: Other Network Printer: LPD/LPR Host or Printer - connection (uri): lpd://PRINTER_IP_ADDRESS/BINARY_P1 - name: any (e.g. DCP7065DN) - driver: Make: Brother / Model: Brother BrGenML1 for CUPS (en) Before that I was trying to choose a driver by pointing to a file. That might've been the reason why printer was looking for some files. Then I was run off space on my hard drive and got another error message: "Can't copy stdin to temporary file". But right now it works :)

I use this package my arch boxes and it is working fine. You should find a PPD at /opt/brother/Printers/BrGenML1/cupswrapper/brother-BrGenML1-cups-en.ppd and after printer configuration a copy of this file at /etc/cups/ppd/<name_of_your_printer. Please verify the file existence and check also other cups log files for errors (maybe on a higher log level). I don't know which installer you are referring to, but the two mentioned files were part of this package before the switch to the generic driver was done with the last update.

It seems that printer doesn't work with current package version. After installing package, adding a new printer in CUPS and printing test my device does not response and I see the following error message: This comes from CUPS logs: http://localhost:631/admin/log/error_log E [12/Sep/2016:18:45:44 +0200] [CGI] Unable to get PPD file /printers/BROTHER_DCP-7065DN.ppd: 404 - Not Found The installer provided by Brother does not use generic driver but dedicated LPR's one and CUPS wrapper for it: http://download.brother.com/welcome/dlf005483/dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb http://download.brother.com/welcome/dlf005485/cupswrapperDCP7065DN-2.0.4-2.i386.deb

With version 3.1.0-1 setting a duplex default in cups and choosing the duplex setting per print job in the print dialog should work out of the box again

vgivanovic commented on 2015-04-26 15:41 (UTC)

Change "Duplex={OFF}" to "Duplex={ON} in both /usr/share/brother/Printer/DCP7065DN/inf/{brDCP7065DNfunc,brDCP7065DNrc}. Note: I also changed the duplex setting in CUPS, system-config-printer and in evince's printer dialog box, so I don't know if all these are necessary, or just the "Duplex" changes in the config files.

Duplex printing does not work. It always prints two pages instead of one. Any idea?

Thanks! Be sure to perform the same thing to every Brother package.

@nowaker I updated the build to include the dependency for lib32-glibc if arch = x86_64

Nowaker commented on 2014-05-12 20:09 (UTC)

@libernux I know multilib needs to be activated, but the driver should explicitly state it needs it. Otherwise people have to debug why the driver doesn't work just to find out multilib needs to be installed. This is what dependencies are for. ;) Official PKGBUILD guidelines even give an example. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD#arch
