ok, as i told previously, i don't have interesting in further maintaining the package - thus continuing the conversation indeed wouldn't lead to anything practical

but i just wanted to give a heads up that you might take a longer "time-out" before taking actions, giving a chance to actually respond on a filed request

https://lists.archlinux.org/archives/list/aur-requests@lists.archlinux.org/message/DBK2MW6SU7NCADDBHIB6KQI2LOCNQLZV/

on 2024, Oct 5th the package python-tts was merged (removed) and the python-tts package was a duplicate of tts, regardless the maintainer who has uploaded it.

So, please let's close this discussion forever. tts has survived and python-tts become a duplicated package. I don't mind who created it, it was a duplicated package to remove and it was properly managed.

you replied, at the same time when i was adding to my previous message, so i'll copy-paste, as you probably won't get a notification for that:

also to add a a bit of context from my side - at the time when i was restoring python-tts package - both tts and python-tts there equally broken (ie having almost the same pkgbuild content) - so from two same pkgs i've just chosen the one with correct name

and also both packages had commit history, i haven't been creating a duplicate of the package in order to fix it

@actionless

@Muflone what level of adequateness do you have? my estimation guess is that it extremely low

This is pretty offensive, regardless the people you're refering to. So please never use such words in any Arch Linux community.

The duplicated packages are doomed to be deleted, regardless if they are more recent (they are mostly of course, otherwise they wouldn't be duplicated packages).

Over the 80% of the AUR requests in the past 10 years were managed by myself. I left my own request for some days to give other people the chance to reject it but in the end I'm the AUR guy which handles the requests, so if noone has rejected it (although it wasn't needed as the package was clearly a duplicated package to be deleted) it was regularly processed like any other request.

there is no personal offense, but as it was literally written - request to explain the adequaity of the actions, because common sense in a situation of removing one of duplicate items would suggest checking last update time and/or checking if both of them are working and/or giving more time (than just couple of days) that a second pair of eyes would have a chance to verify your request on the mailing list

as a result of those - i personally don't have any problem - as i still have a fixed version of the package locally (and don't have further interest in collaborating on this package), but it's a problem for other users of the package

added: also to add a a bit of context from my side - at the time when i was restoring python-tts package - both tts and python-tts there equally broken (ie having almost the same pkgbuild content) - so from two same pkgs i've just chosen the one with correct name

@actionless the first thing the Code of conduct expresses is to respect the users, the other people opinions, even when you disagree, and the staff. Your communication failed for all of the three.

The whole point is python-tts was a duplicated package for tts as it was merged into tts the past month.

I disagreed in the past with the package merge but the older maintainer accepted the merge and so it happened. So there's no place for any python-tts package for the Coqui-ai TTS library

If the current package has some issues you have to contact the package maintainer and you're not allowed to create duplicated packages.

So there's nothing more to discuss here and please avoid to submit duplicated packages again. Also be more respectful.

@Muflone, you're clearly shifting the subject pretending to find smth offensive instead of addressing any of objective, real-life problems raised in my message

@actionless I'm sorry for disappointing your expectations, in the meanwhile read the Arch Linux Code of conduct https://terms.archlinux.org/docs/code-of-conduct/

@Muflone what level of adequateness do you have? my estimation guess is that it extremely low, because:

1) you filed a deletion request for python-tts which have correct name, unilke this package 2) ...and actually builds and starts, instead throwing blocking exceptions like this one 3) you filed deletion request and YOURSELF confirmed the deletion request, which is clearly procedure misusing

the https://github.com/idiap/coqui-ai-TTS fork builds w/python 3.12... only minor changes to the PKGBUILD.
