I have updated the package to 8.5.0, in addition I have tried removing gconf, this appears to behave on my test system.

I have the same issue as mso with the upgrade to version 8.5. The upgrade log has the following errors when trying to uninstall the current version:
Error : Missing install location information from '/opt/crashplan/install.vars'
Error : See above location values.
Error : Uninstall failed
However install.vars exists and seems to have the correct information, with the exception that BINSDIR, INITDIR, and RUNLVLDIR have no values.

Crashplan is trying to update itself from version 8.2.2 to version 8.5.0 and fails (can't find the exact reason on logs at /opt/crashplan/log).
It tries to upgrade itself again every hour. The upgrade installer is downloaded each time which adds 174.6Mb of data to /opt/crashplan/upgrade

Awesome, thanks ultdev!

Works for me. Thanks!

@mrshady @achilleas.k CrashPlanDesktop appears as a blank window over X11 forwarding due to a bug with shared memory in Chromium (see https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/22775#issuecomment-616023334)
The workaround is to disable shared memory by appending "--no-xshm" to the CrashPlanDesktop script so that the exec line appears as follows:
exec "${APP_DIR}/electron/code42" --no-xshm & > "${HOME}/.code42/log/ui_output.log" 2> "${HOME}/.code42/log/ui_error.log"

I've been having issues installing gconf and then noticed the top pinned comment that says a lot packages that depend on it don't really need it.
I've removed the dependency from the PKGBUILD and I'm running CrashPlan now without gconf and it seems to be working okay. I'd like more people to confirm though. Maybe something's broken and I'm not realising.

Hi, Thanks for the package! I'm having a problem with the service starting and stopping continuously. Suggestions?

FWIW I installed a desktop and the client is working. Sigh. So much for a minimal installation. Thanks for the great package. I'm sure it's a Code42 thing.

I have the same issue as you described, mrshady. But it runs fine if I launch it locally, so it's not a packaging or dependency issue.

I'm going to be disowning this package soon. I'm moving away from crashplan and have no interest in maintaining this package, and dealing with usage issues, when I wont be using it.
I'll keep it up to date during the coming months as needed, but if no one else shows up, I plan to disown it at the end of October.

@gadicc, I added some pacman hooks to handle setting/unsetting the immutable flag:
