For the version patch this sed worked for me:

sed -Ei "s/(BUILD_VERSION\?=\")[^\"]+(\")/\1${pkgver}\2/" Makefile

I will have to go back to the drawing board to better handle the upgrades. In the current deployment, it appears that a force update will remove the installer files. The clean install seems to work fine.

Upgrade to 1.2.2 failed for me, I ended up needing to re-install.

(1/1) upgrading crowdsec
INFO[01/04/2022:02:38:10 PM] crowdsec_wizard: checking if crowdsec is installed
WARN[01/04/2022:02:38:10 PM] crowdsec_wizard: Crowdsec is already installed !

We recommand to upgrade : sudo ./wizard.sh --upgrade
If you want to install it anyway, please use '--force'.

Run : sudo ./wizard.sh -i --force

Crowdsec installer files have been saved to /var/lib/crowdsec/installers
It's recommended to keep these in place for proper package removal

Trying to run the upgrade manually led to this error:

crowdsec_wizard: new version (1.2.2) is a major, you should follow documentation to upgrade !

As far as I could tell, there isn't actually any documentation to follow here...

One other minor note: pkgrel should be reset to 1 when bumping pkgver
