epoch bump was unnecessary. You forgot to update provides/conflicts. Both should be set to denise.

Also I think it's worth bumping the epoch so this is correct going forward.

This would be better. The v prefix needs to be removed, and --tags ensures ordinary tags can be used.

$ git describe --tags --long --abbrev=7 | sed 's/^v//;s/\([^-]*-g\)/r\1/;s/-/./g'

For comparison with stable releases. git x.ry.gz has distance y from release x. This package previously used #.r#.g# format, and upstream has ordinary releases, so there is no reason to revert to r#.# format.

Can you explain why the pkgver should be like that please?

Also I'm getting around to fixing denise-bin and once it's right it will conflict with the other packages.

pkgver should be in format #.r#.g#.
