can fluidsynth please be removed as a required dependency?

@mike.cuche Ohhh, thank you for the info, I did not know that. I installed tons of AUR packages (and updates) successfully in the past 6 months without even knowing about base-devel. Dosbox-x & other dosbox-packages are the first packages that are complaining. Really confusing...

@kq6up You seem to have the exact same problem as I do, since you get the same error as I did.

@Switch123456789 if you are building an AUR package, you need to have base-devel installed:

It seems like this package depends on autoconf & automake but I had to install it manually. I am new to arch, is this expected?

Another build fail. Maybe unlisted dependencies:

ethernet_slirp.cpp:(.text+0x1dca): undefined reference to slirp_version_string' /usr/bin/ld: ethernet_slirp.cpp:(.text+0x2126): undefined reference toslirp_new' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[3]: [Makefile:480: dosbox-x] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory '/home/chris/tmp/dosbox-x/src/dosbox-x-dosbox-x-v2023.03.31/src' make[2]: [Makefile:540: all-recursive] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory '/home/chris/tmp/dosbox-x/src/dosbox-x-dosbox-x-v2023.03.31/src' make[1]: [Makefile:402: all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/chris/tmp/dosbox-x/src/dosbox-x-dosbox-x-v2023.03.31' make: [Makefile:335: all] Error 2 ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). New problem after upgrade:

-> Extracting dosbox-x-v2023.03.31.tar.gz with bsdtar ==> Removing existing $pkgdir/ directory... ==> Starting build()... Generating build information using aclocal, autoheader, automake and autoconf This may take a while ... ./autogen.sh: line 20: aclocal: command not found autogen.sh failed to complete: verify that GNU Autotools is installed on the system and try again ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting...

I have: pacman -Q autoconf autoconf 2.71-4

You do not need to use ffmpeg 4 hack as Dosbox-X can be built against ffmpeg 5 since 2022.12.26 version.

Just a heads up: Next release won't require any ffmpeg hacks. I also fixed the fluidsynth bug so that should work now.

On my system the fluidsynth support is disabled during configuration because for some reason AC_LIB_CHECK(fluidsynth, ...) passes -lSDL to gcc without the required -lm and -lGL (I cannot understand why, for now).

I managed to build with fluidsynth support by adding the following modification to configure.ac:

sed -i 's|$LIBS $SDL_LIBS|$LIBS $SDL_LIBS -lm -lGL|' configure.ac

This problem is mentioned here upstream: https://github.com/joncampbell123/dosbox-x/issues/1552
