I took maintainership of this package as eddy_hunter gave it up. I pushed a commit where I changed the dependency from java-environment to java-runtime as suggested by tinywrkb, because Eclipse only requires a JRE for execution and installing a JDK is only necessary if you use this package to set up a Java IDE. Maybe, JDKs and other language compilers/tools should be listed as optional dependencies with a reference to corresponding Eclipse plugins (like JDT or CDT). Or, we echo a message after installation informing the user that he has to install the corresponding compilers/tools on its own when installing Eclipse plugins that require them.

Please add the package "eclipse-common" to the conflicting packages, or make it a dependency by removing the files provided by "eclipse-common" from your package.

The eclipse.desktop file is still using the old 4.7 version string.

I did not see the 4.7.1a update when using pacaur, perhaps it is better to step pkgrel for minor updates like this.

Just updated to the recent version and saw that there is an install script which manually calls gtk-update-icon-cache. With the latest Gnome package guidelines, you could omit this call by depending on the gtk-update-icon-cache package which automatically updates the icon cache via pacman hooks. What I mean is to use webkit2gtk instead of deprecated webkitgtk2 like the official eclipse-common package does. This allows to use Eclipse with gtk3 and without having to install gtk2.
