Eterm is currently broken because of build failures in libast.

I am working on the libast issue, hoping to have a solution soon.

I was able to fix the font issue reported by micwoj92 by installing the xorg-fonts-type1 package.

Hope this helps someone.

Can't start due to missing fonts

Eterm: Error: Unable to load font "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--10-100-75-75-p-56-iso8859-1". Falling back on "fixed"
Eterm: Error: Unable to load font "-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-*-*-*-c-*-iso10646-1". Falling back on "k14"
Eterm: FATAL: Couldn't load the fallback font either. Giving up.

0.9.6-3 updates the PKGBUILD to do pretty much what @freakwent suggested below.

Some people might also want to wget http://eterm.org/download/Eterm-bg-0.9.6.tar.gz tar -zxf Eterm-bg-0.9.6.tar.gz sudo cp -r bg/* /usr/share/Eterm/pix sudo Etbg_update_list This yields the default terminal backgrounds.

@mlerota, I had a similar issue. There is a bug in /usr/bin/imlib2-config, open it up and search for "@my_libs@", that shouldn't be there so delete it, then remove libast and eterm and try again.

mlerota commented on 2014-03-12 23:06 (UTC)

It fails. Libast is installed but... checking for libast_set_program_name in -last... no ERROR: You need LibAST 0.5 or higher to build Eterm. If you already have it, you may have it installed in a strange place, or you may need to run /sbin/ldconfig. If you don't have it, I can download it for you. Shall I retrieve and build LibAST now (y/n)? n configure: error: Fatal: libast not found

@phunni, you need to recompile libast to link it against the new pcre.

phunni commented on 2012-03-02 18:10 (UTC)

This now fails to run claiming it cannot find libpcre.so.0
