EDIT: Seems I have a bigger problem and it is no fault of this package.
OP: I still get the following error and have tried starting with 'normal' evelauncher and evelauncher.sh:
"error while loading shared libraries: libQt5WebSockets.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I picked up and reissued the package. Now package use native qt libraries, but maybe i loose any dependencies. Please write to me if this happens.

There is a more current version of the launcher available for download: https://binaries.eveonline.com/evelauncher-1156239.tar.gz

I got it to work by making a symlink called libssl.so in the launcher folder pointing to /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0 , and another symlink in the launcher folder called libcrypto.so pointing to /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 .
Another potential source of confusion is that there is both an evelauncher and an evelauncher.sh executable. Make sure to use evelauncher.sh
For Optimus, rather than the optirun command, I used primusrun (optirun seems to have tried to force 32bit mode, which did not work)
When trying to start the game from within the launcher, initially it complained about missing assets. In the settings I unticked the test servers and ticked "download all", then waited until my ~/.eve/ResFiles/ folder was filled (~15GB at this time). If it fails to download all and complains about missing assets, restart the launcher, or delete the ~/.eve/ResFiles/ folder and ~/.eve/index*.txt and try downloading it all again (I had delete the resfiles and indices once and then it worked after redownloading everything).
For me the Qt5 libs turned out to not be the source of the problem, even though that's what the error messages were suggesting at first. I just left the Qt5 libs as they were in the original.

I have tried to strip out the Qt5 libs provided in the pacakge. So far I am getting this error:
QXcbIntegration: Cannot create platform OpenGL context, neither GLX nor EGL are enabled
QApplication: invalid style override passed, ignoring it.
Aborted (core dumped)
From what I found so far on this matter, it has something to do with the configuration when compiling Qt. Since it is a package from ArchLinux, I have to find a way to make it work.

Could we maybe strip out the qt binaries that they provide and add as deps instead so we could use arch repo QT?

This launcher should not be expected to work as all work on a linux version of the launcher has been halted.

I have created a github mirror of this https://github.com/GregoryLand/evelauncher. I can take pull requests there and will push them to the AUR.
