Info from expressvpn's site ...

wget https://www.expressvpn.com/expressvpn_release_public_key_0xAFF2A1415F6A3A38.asc

gpg --import expressvpn_release_public_key_0xAFF2A1415F6A3A38.asc

All installed fine; thank you very much for maintaining.

Looks like update notifications are working for the linux client now, but unfortunately the current version (2.3.2) thinks it's an older version (2.3.1 -- check expressvpn --version), so the update alert people get when they run expressvpn status may be a false positive.

Please check what version is reported at https://www.expressvpn.com/latest (or https://www.expressvpn.com/support/troubleshooting/china-status/#linux as this sometimes gets updates listed sooner) before flagging the package as out-of-date.

Please note that, from v2.0.0, ExpressVPN will be providing signed Arch packages on their website (alongside the deb and rpm packages). I'll be continuing to update this package, but for those that find using the AUR cumbersome or just don't want to wait, please be aware of this option.

EDIT: packages were delayed for testing, but seem to be live as of 2019-01-23.

Odd, they haven't announced it on their blog, and the application isn't reporting the new version. Where did you hear about the new version? Is there a changelog?

Aurelias commented on 2017-11-16 06:10 (UTC)

Expressvpn have released version 1.3.0 and so are there any plans to update this version?

Have you added the key to your build user's keyring? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg#Signature_checking Check with e.g. $ gpg --list-keys expressvpn.com pub rsa4096 2016-01-22 [SC] 1D0B09AD6C93FEE93FDDBD9DAFF2A1415F6A3A38 uid [ unknown] ExpressVPN Release <release@expressvpn.com> sub rsa4096 2016-01-22 [E]

Tried to install this today and I got a failure: ==> ERROR: One or more PGP signatures could not be verified! ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build expressvpn. Got the right PGP signature: gpg: data source: https://193.164.133.100:443 (1) ExpressVPN Release <release@expressvpn.com> 4096 bit RSA key AFF2A1415F6A3A38, created: 2016-01-22 But the package still won't pass through PGP check. Please help.. And many thanks for maintaining this package!

Hi! Sure, I won't do that again - could you maybe pin that comment? FWIW, I marked it out of date because I have a similar issue with Google Chrome, and there is a pinned comment there (and a lot of sarcastic unpinned comments) that instructed us to *only* mark it out of date for checksum problems. See https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/google-chrome/ Thanks again for your volunteer work!

Please don't mark out of date for checksum problems. Seems that updpkgsums replaced the 'SKIP' value with an actual value. Will fix shortly.

Hello! Installation fails for me with this error: ==> Validating source files with sha512sums... license-20170317.html ... FAILED ==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check! Thank you for maintaining this package.

Wow, how unusual. Thanks for letting us know. That's really shocking. Goodness me, I wonder what may have caused that. If only I knew why and explained the reasoning behind it and posted links to information about it several times over the past six months on this package alone...

Hi, I had to add gpg --recv-key AFF2A1415F6A3A38 For this package to install - just FYI

Yes, thanks for this. I have been told the same on my distro (that there is no abnormal conflict). Not shutting down properly the service before shutting down the computer was probably the reason of my computer crash because this was not "fair use". When I use the service more carefully, nothing happens. Sorry for this.
