Instead of building this yourself, please use the repository from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=117157.

Not only do you skip the very time-consuming builds, but the published package also has debug symbols at Mozilla's crash reports service, which helps tremendously with finding or filing bugs for any crashes you get.

I consider this the canonical firefox-nightly package for Arch Linux.

Alternatively, download Firefox Nightly straight from Mozilla, extract it to a writable place (e.g. ~/.local/firefox-nightly) and let it update itself using the integrated updater.

Yes indeed, but makepkg will output the signing subkey ID (which is subject to change) while the other one is the master key, that is supposed to stay the same, so for my pinned post I’ve figured that printing this one would be better.

You can just copy paste the "unknown public key BBBEBDBB24C6F355" tho right? I mean that's what I did and it was the same.

Sorry my bad. And I prefer to do as the repo package, link to real binary rather than to the simlink.

Desktop file needs to be updated. There's no /opt/firefox-nightly/firefox-nightly but /opt/firefox-nightly/firefox. Or even better, use /usr/bin/firefox-nightly.

Well more actions = New Tab which is useless, they are actually less MIME types but a bit different ones.

I prefer to keep in sync with the repo .desktop files.

In https://blog.nightly.mozilla.org/2018/01/22/335/ there is a .desktop file with more actions, new keywords (in French) and more MIME types. I edited Italian .desktop file on AUR package of firefox-nightly-it and added French, Italian and Esperanto localization of keywords and profile manager. Keep it in mind if you want to adapt .desktop file to this version ;)

I have found. pacman -Qo /usr/bin/firefox-nightly /usr/bin/firefox-nightly is owned by firefox-always-nightly 59.0a1.-1 I had completely forgotten that I had installed firefox-always-nightly and not firefox-nightly. Sorry for my carelessness and thank you for you help.

Archange commented on 2017-12-24 18:36 (UTC)

Then try to see which package owns firefox-nightly using pacman -Qo /usr/bin/firefox-nightly. Maybe you have installed the french version?

@micman: Hum? Just do pacman -Rns firefox-nightly as for any other package.
