Running this from my tty doesn't work, this is what it returns

[jonah@arch] ~ ¥ gamescope-session-plus steam
/usr/bin/gamescope-session-plus: 3: declare: not found
Failed to start gamescope-session-plus@.service: Unit name gamescope-session-plus@.service is missing the instance name.
See user logs and 'systemctl --user status gamescope-session-plus@.service' for details.

[jonah@arch] ~ ¥ systemctl --user status gamescope-session-plus@.service
Failed to get properties: Unit name gamescope-session-plus@.service is neither a valid invocation ID nor unit name.

Deleting the content but leaving this up to say that in my case the solution to launching the session doing nothing was swapping to gamescope-git.

Thanks, works with v3.13.19

It is likely an issue with gamescope. Try downgrading to older versions of the gamescope package.

I just tried and have the same problem with @wustdsh. I don't use a desktop manager and I'm trying to run it from tty. Steam is installed and working. I'm following this info: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HDR_monitor_support#Gamescope_with_Steam_session I don't care about the hdr option which I've removed from config file.

@wustdsh do you have steam installed?

Two entries are expected in some display managers, this is a workaround for backwards compatibility.

@xiota addressed your comments, thanks.

Should this depend on the "steam" package?
