build failed first because the command "pod2man" wasn't found. adding perl executables to the PATH-variable solved that. e.g.: export PATH="/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl:$PATH"

@amdj: Do you use -j in your makepkg.conf flags? Gnucash doesn't like that :/. Workarounds that have worked in the past are adding options=(... !makeflags), or adding MAKEFLAGS="${MAKEFLAGS} -j1" in front of the make install line in package().

Unfortunately, for me the build failed:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgnc-backend-xml-utils collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status libtool: error: error: relink 'libgncmod-backend-xml.la' with the above command before installing it

@not_anonymous: It has been a few months so I'm just checking in on this. Ideally gnucash-gtk3-git should not exist and this package would be up-to-date, so I would like to propose a merge. I would be happy to take this package over or be a co-maintainer if you like, but I wanted to hear your thoughts before making any actual requests.

Hey there, I can't get this to build, and the problem is the patch files. Looks like they did some rearranging upstream. So in all the patch files, you gotta change src/... to libgnucash/.. That said, I get another error once I fix that, so I'll come back and provide something more comprehensive when I get that figured out.

A relatively NEW user flagged this package "out-of-date" and mentioned newer version numbers...Eh-Hem, um, without trying to sound too patronizing; what makes a '-git' program out of date is NOT version numbers !! <- These get changed as the git repo is pulled, which happens when the makepkg is run on a '-git' pkgbuild that is structured with a compliant pkgver(). Now if it the pkgbuild doesn't run properly....that's a reason for concern !...Which brings me to ANOTHER matter (entirely another matter !!); jebrosen; sorry to have "forgotten" about your note from this past august. I will look into this soon...thanks for your patience.

I have been tracking the gtk3 update (AUR package: gnucash-gtk3-git) in a development branch that was just merged upstream. My package builds and runs with a minor fix for the boost error; boost is correct according to the configure script comments, but the way configure tries to detect the problem gives a false positive. I am open to suggestions for a better fix than what I did. I believe the only significant differences now between this package and my package are the dependency versions -- webkit2gtk instead of the old webkitgtk2, latest goffice instead of goffice0.8, etc., so I think my own package could be dropped if this one were updated.

Gosh....things are REALLY hosed-up "upstream". For the time being the git repo will not produce a working package as the configure is kaput. (Issues with how gnucash is relating to "boost"). I hope to keep an eye on this. Hint: remove the patches and try anew as/when things get fixed upstream.
