The aur package gpu-screen-recorder-git was renamed to gpu-screen-recorder. Install gpu-screen-recorder instead or you may experience issues.

Ok so for some unknown reason, upon reinstalling arch from a minimal install and configuring everything myself, the recording software no longer stutters? I was using xfce before and it was crazy stuttery, but I am now using KDE with x11 compositor and there is no stutter. I am just a LITTLE confused. If I had to guess, it's something with KDE but I'm not sure. (Edit: I'm a moron and I knew nothing about display servers at this time lol)

I did some changes and pretty much all of the stuttering is gone for me now. But I dont know, it's kinda random so it might happen again

If you can actually fix it you are a legend.

Looks like there is a (new?) nvfbc bug that causes video capture to stutter, especially when vsync is enabled.. I'll see if there is a workaround.

@DEC05EBA Recently I have noticed that when using the program, it records just fine but my display gets really jittery and it isn't very smooth. I only notice this because I'm like the audiophile equivalent for display smoothness (280hz monitor with secret overdrive settings enabled). Is this just an issue with the newest nvidia driver?

Edit: I found the problem. It's called don't use vsync lol.

@DEC05EBA No problem! :) Also, you don't really have to manually update -git packages, as most people use AUR helpers and most of them do that automatically. More info here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/VCS_package_guidelines

@gbr huh, thanks.. I didn't know that you only need nvidia-utils to use cuda.

gbr commented on 2022-10-06 06:29 (UTC)

Hi. Can you drop cuda from the dependencies? It's not really required to either build or run the program. Thanks.

@creepergd I forgot to mention. If you use pipewire instead (with pipewire-pulse installed) then you can mix desktop audio and mic audio by using a tool like qpwgraph. It allows you to merge different audio sources into one in any application you want. It's a very simple tool.
