@nfs I'm fully aware how packages work and it wasn't obvious to me after digging into it for far too long.

Patches welcome if you figure it out.

I suspect the failure to build using makechrootpkg implies that you haven't specified all the dependencies required to build. You have all the required dependencies on your workstation, but not when using makechrootpkg. If you can compare all installed programs in the chroot with what's on your workstation install, perhaps you can figure out what's missing?

!@nfs This built fine on my workstation, but I get the same problem when I build it with makechrootpkg and can't figure out why or how to fix it. It seems like a problem with one of the dependencies?

I have the dependencies rust and protobuf installed, but I still get the message:

= note: some extern functions couldn't be found; some native libraries may need to be
installed or have their path specified = note: use the -l flag to specify native
libraries to link = note: use the cargo:rustc-link-lib directive to specify the native
 libraries to link with Cargo

I'm not sure where the cargo: rustc-link-lib directive should be, but shouldn't that have been done in the PKGBUILD?

1.7.4 is the latest version, so this one's out of date. . .
