I'm getting java 8 error:

Error, no compatiable java found! imagej2 depends on java 8

even though I have it set as default:

archlinux-java status
Available Java environments:
  java-11-openjdk
  java-8-openjdk/jre (default)

SOLVED: Had to install

yay jdk8-openjdk

This build seems to be broken. I have sent a patch to the maintainer for upgrading to 2.9.0, but if anyone needs it before AUR is updated the patch for the PKGBUILD is here:

I spent some time getting the 2.2.0 build working, would be great if someone else could test the build on their system.

The arch should be x86_64, and the license should be BSD. And java package should be installed to /usr/share/java, check Java package guidelines. Or you could just install it to /opt/ directory. Icon file is installed to /usr/share/icons/hicolor/512x512/apps, but dep hicolor-icon-theme is missing. Another installation dir choice is /usr/share/pixmaps. Could you fix these issues? I would like to create and update pkg from aur for CN repo.
