As Jaspersoft Studio is no longer available on SourceForge, I am orphaning the package. It is no longer possible to download and use the program without registration on Jaspersoft site.

With version 6.21.0, registration and login are necessary; use is no longer possible without registration. See also the announcement at https://community.jaspersoft.com/announcement/3-changes-to-the-jaspersoft-community-edition-download

Since extensive data is collected during use (https://community.jaspersoft.com/policies/jss-data-governance -> "Logs Data:") I decided to stick with the latest version 6.20.6, as long as it still works. So if you don't want to register, you shouldn't update and stick with version 6.20.6.

Additionally, the SQLite JDBC driver has been removed as "outdated" (see README.txt on https://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperstudio/files/JaspersoftStudio-6.21.0). I still have charts that get their data from SQLite databases, which is another reason why the current version is unusable for me.

For me, my days with Jaspersoft Studio are off, any suggestion for an alternative and free report generator is welcome.

@Roknauta: I've fixed the SHA1 signature in the PKGBUILD, try installing the package again!

@Smoerrebroed: Updated PKGBUILD with the new Exec line.

Smoerrebroed commented on 2020-02-17 05:27 (UTC)

The Exec= line needs to be modified to read

Exec=env GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc "/opt/jaspersoftstudio/Jaspersoft Studio"

Then the application shortcut will also be shown in Gnome menus.

TIBCO seems to have dropped support for x86 architecture starting from v6.9.0. If it does not provide x86 binaries soon, I will drop support for x86 in the PKGBUILD.

Thank you.

I had the same following problem some users reported here with my Manjaro 17.1.12 XFCE:

- Failed to execute child process "GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc" (No such file or directory) -

To solve it, I just edited the application entry from the Start Menu as follows:

  • open Start Menu

  • search for "Jaspersoft"

  • right click the item

  • select "Edit Application.."

  • on the "Command" text box leave only : /opt/jaspersoftstudio/Jaspersoft\ Studio (without any double quote).

Worked for me, hope it helps someone too.

Im having some glitching issues while using JasperSoft Studio. (using the latest version from the AUR).Im using GNOME. Steps to reproduce : Add Text Field. Select it. Go to Properties -> Borders -> Click on a border on the square. The Pen Width (1.0 by default) appears for an instant and then "disappears" (Its still there as I can select it but i think the font color becomes white) This can be temprorarily resolved by going to preferences and toggling the theme from classic -> GTK or vice versa. The resolution exists only for the current report and does not remain for other opened reports. Really annoying bug. Ive tried Adwaita and other themes etc...but no use. The bug persists. I have a version 6.1.1 of Jasper running on another machine running the latest UBUNTU GNOME and it works near perfectly.I tried running this version of Jasper on arch using various settings but it stops workign as soon as I open a JRXML file. I am guessing its a GTK issue. I dont want to go back to using Ubuntu as I love the Arch experience. Can someone help me to run the AUR version of Arch without this glitch. And if you think 6.1.1 should run fine on Arch...can someone help me overcome the GTK issue (Ive already tried export SWT_GTK3=0; but it doesnt work) Thanks.

Installed and mostly working; however, the path issue mentioned in 2015-09-25 is still there. ==> The .desktop file needs to either quote the exec path or use backslash for escaping the space character. On top of that, I do not get any application icon in my GNOME applications menu. Need to dig into that to see what's wrong/missing.
