Please add a dependency on lib32-ncurses5-compat-libs. Without it, debugging fails with the cryptic message "Could not determine GDB version after sending: arm-none-eabi-gdb --version, response:".

Why is this in the base-devel group? It has nothing to do with building Arch packages.

where exactly am I meant to download the deb file to, in order to install this package? Edit: Don't worry I used this much simpler port by gromain instead: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/kinetis-design-studio/

Yes, I believe it's not user-friendly enough (and complicated to install, since I first need to download the right file, and then install the software). If the license file is made available, and there is a notice of their existence and that they are to be agreed upon for the use of the software, I think it's enough.

@gromain there are many license that need to be agreed too and hence why I insist on people agreeing to the terms on NXP's site. Are you having issues?

gromain commented on 2016-07-20 09:24 (UTC)

Well, following the advices on the forum, I created a .install file that warns the user of two things: First that they explicit agree to the license, whose file is installed in `/usr/share/licenses/kinetis-design-studio`. Second, that they need to chown the directory of installation in /opt/ to be able to install plugins. From the advices I had on the forum, it was ok to include a direct link to install the package. The link I found is https://freescaleesd.flexnetoperations.com/337170/727/9802727/$pkgname-$pkgver-$pkgrel.$arch.rpm .

Actually, removing the file:// was a mistake. Added it back. Make sure you download the source file and place it in the pkgbuild directory.

I've updated the source URL, apparently this broke at some point. There are many licenses in the package and I'm relying on the user accepting the NXP license when they download the deb package, just as the debian/rpm package. Let me know if it works for you.

Hi, I found out about your package just now, after I already wrote a PKGBUILD! Anyway, yours is not working for me, but I included the LICENSE file in mine, and found a direct download link. Do you think you could update your PKGBUILD to include those changes? There is a discussion on this subject on the forum: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1640864#p1640864 Cheers
