I temporarily took over the package in the hopes of finally having a working kmozillahelper in the AUR. I'm not sure what you mean. Which "old sources"? With what are they incompatible? What are the new ones? As far as I can tell the package is the same as before, only now you don't need an account with opensuse. Feel free to take over the package if you like, or just post an improved PKGBUILD and I'll upload it

There's no reason for this as the old sources are incompatible anyway You just added the patch to the old sources and use the wrong dependencies.

I updated the package to use the unrestricted source suggested by fordprefect.

He meant that after I update kmozillahelper to kf5 (which I was the maintainer of and got removed cause I didn't update it) he delets his pkg. So please beware of this issue, I said over and over why I didn't updated kmozilla-helper and got still removed from the maintainership of the pkg.

@maz-1 could you please do this?

it isn't tagged in the projectg repo, but opensuse the creater of the pkg changed the version of their pkg to 0.6.5. Wolfgang Rosenauer the maintainer of the patchset is quite active, the patches are always up to date for the latest firefox version.

ok, so this package concerns the remaining kde4 users only, thats quite obvious. the revert was from logic, because it pretended a release that didnt exist. does it do much harm to anyone? if so, we need to have a new version named accordingly (e.g 0.6.4.latest or 0.6.4.$gitcommit), if not it can stay this way for now. in the long term this package will go away because a) kde4 is phasing out, and b) this package breaks more over time.

It is broken or better unmaintained. It was loosely updated to Frameworks like a s/KDE4/KF5/ But the kf5 version was needed since the KDE 4 version pulls a herd of KDE 4 deps with it. So reverting to the latest stable version helps no one except the few remaining KDE 4 users.

@Thaodan: i appreciate your efforts to get another stable release, and pinning a commit is surely better than refering to git tip. actually deleting this package would propably be the best, as scarabeusiv states it is effectively broken. i just did not file a deletion request because it is a dependency of firefox-kde-opensuse (wich you happen to maintain). is this really broken or is it still of use for your package?

I was the privious maintainer and this is way I kept it to the latest stable release. See this issue: https://github.com/openSUSE/kmozillahelper/issues/3 I made kmozillahelper-frameworks to provide a more updated version but a -git version would be better.
