It seems to fully function kopia-ui depends on https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/fuse-archive

The app-update.yml file is now included in the PKGBUILD.

Yeah, I'm sure. I started from the commandline when nothing happened and the app just crashed with an explicit hint that app-update.yml is missing. Got the information from a closed github issue.

Weirdly, the package works for me without that file.
Did you check your tray icons? Kopia only launches to the tray, instead of to the GUI directly.

I found this issue on Kopia's github about this file. And also this issue on electron-builder that's related.

I'll see whether I can include that file in the PKBUILD somehow.

kopia-ui is not starting, due to /opt/KopiaUI/resources/app-update.yml missing. Create the file with the following content and it starts

owner: kopia
repo: kopia
provider: github
vPrefixedTagName: true
releaseType: release
updaterCacheDirName: kopia-ui-updater

Not sure whether that is a bug from the deb package.

The errors were due to two left over lines from the kopia-bin PKGBUILD.
I removed them now, as bash and zsh completions aren't needed for a GUI.

During installation, the following error is logged:

/home/user/.cache/yay/kopia-ui-bin/PKGBUILD: line 24: /home/tobru/.cache/yay/kopia-ui-bin/pkg/kopia-ui-bin/usr/bin/kopia-ui: No such file or directory

It seems that the binaries are installed under /opt/KopiaUI
