The original sources do not work with new version of libnotify (0.7). I added a small patch to solve this issue.

@cathay4t: Default option is that krb5-auth-dialog only starts if a kerberos ticket is already present: -a, --auto Only run if an initialized ccache is found (default) -A, --always Always run So you have to start it via krb5-auth-dialog -A Hope it helps :-)

Bevan, When I try to start krb5-auth-dialog before kinit, I got this from strace: open("/tmp/krb5cc_500", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) munmap(0xb7855000, 16384) = 0 exit_group(0) = ? krb5-auth-dialog just exit 0. My friend using fedora krb5-auth-dialog 0.16 in Gnome don't have this issue. I have confirmed even with 0.16 in arch, the problem is the same. Does this tool hate KDE?

Added. Thanks for the hint.

New version 0.17 includes a plugin to obtain an AFS token. You can enable it by running gconftool-2 --set --list-type=string --type=list /apps/krb5-auth-dialog/plugins/enabled [afs]
