I see you are maintaining both the git and the regular version so, what packages should I use to satisfy the dependencies for compiling osmo-bts from source?

As a general rule, you should be using the git-versions (i.e. recent master) of libraries when building recent master of osmo-* from source.

But then when I tried installing libosmo-netif-git to satisfy the dependencies for osmo-bts it tried to replace libosmocore-git with this version.

Sorry to hear that. I saw your comment to libosmo-netif-git and will try to get dependencies for -git packages fixed this weekend.

Hi @fixeria, I was trying to compile osmo-bts from source after installing this package and noticed the file "osmocom/gsm/rlp.h" was missing. I installed the git version since I was building from source and it provided this header.

But then when I tried installing libosmo-netif-git to satisfy the dependencies for osmo-bts it tried to replace libosmocore-git with this version.

Osmocom tagged a new stable release v1.9.0 of libosmocore today. Many other [lib]osmo- projects depend on libosmocore, including libosmo-{abis,netif,sccp} which I am currently maintaining. Before I can update those (new releases also tagged today), libosmocore needs to be updated first.

@matt9j: are you planning to continue maintaining this package? I am maintaining the '-git' variant of this package and have some patches which could be ported here.

A note to users which don't use systemd and whose compilations fail with systemd/sd-journal.h: No such file or directory:
→ Here I have made a package libosmocore-nosystemd-git which compiles and works on systemd-free systems. (It includes a split-out docs package.)

Also, I suggest to build with '--enable-systemd-logging'. This option allows using systemd-journal as a logging target. Debian and CentOS packages are built with it. This adds a new dependency 'systemd-libs'. Maybe we could make it optional somehow?

I went ahead and enabled this to match the builds on other platforms. I think additional work would need to be done in the library itself to add runtime detection of the presence of systemd and switch on/off the journald capability dynamically to move the package to optdepends, so I've left systemd-libs as a full dependency for now.
