you are trying to compile meanwhile (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=2956) package, not libpurple-meanwhile (yaourt solve dependencies automatically). There was a change in GLib, and you can't include all glib headers anymore, only few headers (check GLib documentation), and the main header <glib.h>. At meanwhile comments, there is a patched PKGBUILD that change the necessary lines (basically glib.h includes) to compile meanwhile correctly. You can download it here: http://codezen.org/static/meanwhile.tar.gz. Download, build and install it with makepkg -si, then reinstall this package. BTW, I have a problem in Empathy. I Verifyed that Empathy needs gnome-keyring-daemon activated (I use LXDE, so it wad disabled). Editing /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart and adding a "@gnome-keyring-daemon" (without quotes) line, solve this problem.

I cannot compile the package. The error message is as below. BTW, nm, tck and tk are disabled during compiling time. At present, this no longer works. farsight2 has been replaced by farstream: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/farstream/

I solve it! We have to type USERNAME:SERVER at Account field, in Empathy. Pidgin and Empathy works now flawlessly. Updated Package.

I can't set Lotus Sametime server from the new version of libpurple in Empathy. I'm trying solve this before update this package.
