I have added a patch to bump up the versions of dependencies, including markdown library which is now in 1.0.0-alpha.7 (as opposed to 0.3.0). I have also enabled GFM extension (for more details look into markdown-rs reposiroty into section Extensions).
The GFM extension allows for proper display of tables, among other things.
