For those who might ask why libva-vdpau-driver was added to conflicts.

It is the only way at package level to prevent the user to have segfaults because of this driver. This will not be fixed on OBS side since this is not an OBS issue.

The driver is only loaded with Nvidia cards.

Try libva-nvidia-driver if you really need Nvidia decode through VAAPI.

This package have some dependencies with version check, it will allow you to rebuild the package only when your system is correctly updated. This feature is not enabled on Manjaro.

If you have any issue, please before commenting rebuild this package (a clean build) and try again to make sure it's not because of a library update.

Pamac has a messed up dependency checker, use another AUR helper for the first install.

This AUR package provide OBS with all the missing feature except Twitch, Restream and YouTube integrations.

More explaination here: https://ideas.obsproject.com/posts/1558/

It provide any dependency needed for Wayland support.

It also contains some unmerged PR or backported fix documented in the PKGBUILD.

I'm quite active on OBS discord server (don't PM me directly), so if I saw something that need to be backported I add it.

aarch64 (m1 mac) fails to get the dependencies
makepkg -si
ffmpeg-obs>=5
vlc-luajit
ftl-sdk
boost
boost-libs
==> ERROR: Could not resolve all dependencies.
Fetching those packages from the AUR, editing PKGBUILD and replacing with aarch64 and it builds and installs.
In addition, raqote (rust library) is not fetched and cef-minimal-obs-bin does not have the suitable aarch64 flags set.

Building it manually is actually easier than pulling all the packages on my own like so... but not fun since its untracked. I forgot which additional packages I required. But it was fast and it just worked.

sudo git clone --recursive https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio.git
cd obs-studio
sudo mkdir build
cd build
sudo cmake -DUNIX_STRUCTURE=1 -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DENABLE_PIPEWIRE=OFF -DBUILD_BROWSER=OFF ..
sudo make -j$(nproc)
sudo make install

Yes but why not put cef-minimal-obs-bin as dependency? Then it would be installed automatically during OBS upgrade. For users currently OBS package is broken unless they will not dig into AUR package comments if they happen to know, that even such option exist.

@zeroconf, AUR helpers are not supported by the AUR itself.

cef-minimal-obs-bin and cef-minimal-obs-rc-bin both provide cef-minimal-obs but AUR helpers do not always resolves cef-minimal-obs to one of the -bin ones.

cef-minimal-obs is present in this package since at least its creation, it was removed temporarily for 28 because I had issue with the new CEF which I had resolve so I restored it.

I guess it is not a matter of AUR helper but dependencies, that are described. Any AUR helper will read PKGBUILD and see dependencies if they are described. If any of dependencies are replaced then it should be described so. Then AUR helper will announce orphan packages and I can remove older dependencies and install new one(s). No one user cannot know those details him-, herself. If there is any new dependency, then it should be installed as dependency, not manually like currently. I hope you will fix dependencies properly, otherwise your OBS package remains broken. Users like me will never know what and where to fix and we don't have permissions as we are not maintainers.

@zeroconf, I reintroduced the usage of the cef-minimal-obs package because I finally found what was wrong with them the new CEF of OBS 28.

Your AUR helper does not seem to search for which package provides it. It's https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cef-minimal-obs-bin that you need.

Actually there is already Chromium 105.0.5195.102-1 currently available and I have it installed independently. You can check Linux versions of Chromium at https://chromiumdash.appspot.com/releases?platform=Linux

I going to expand what I mean by from now give a better log or ask for support on OBS Discord or IRC or even try another AUR package.

  • from now maybe I should have say "from now I would like you to"

  • give a better log, this is just standard practice in OBS support, asking for a log (terminal output) of OBS when the issue happen to provide more information

  • ask for support on OBS Discord or IRC, AUR comments are not the best place to provide support to people

  • try another AUR package, you say that my package is THE problem, but you never tried -rc, -browser or even -git to check if the issue comes really from this package

@Alkaris the official arch package does not crash with the QWidget because it's still on 27.2.4-2. Once they update it, the crash should be there as well, unless you uninstall your Qt5 plugins as stated by tytan652. I faced the same issue and I solved it by uninstalling StreamFX.

Please don't be rude to tytan652 or any other user here. Thanks

Alkaris commented on 2022-09-06 23:53 (UTC)

Your versions of OBS are so frequently broken because of whatever stuff you've done to the code. Your code is the problem, instead of dismissing the issue, consider the fact there is something wrong with your code work that its causing issues, instead of this attitude of "Do-No-Wrong". Want a full report of what's wrong with it? OK fine, I'll dissect and disassemble the code and run it through every debugger.

tytan652 commented on 2022-09-06 13:34 (UTC)

@Alkaris, I'm quite sure the issue is not because my AUR recipe but on your side, from now give a better log or ask for support on OBS Discord or IRC or even try another AUR package.
