This package isn't out of date until there's a new release. Just because upstrem doesn't want to release doesn't make the PKGBUILD out of date.

The last release (3.0.0) is already 2 years old and 270 commits behind master. You might want to try ohcount-git: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38812
