Oh, that does not look good. I have not tested with Linux 6.5 yet but will do so later today. I don't see any more pending upstream patches, so I guess some debugging will be required.

afsd is crashing on 6.5.3-zen1-1-zen, has anybody else seen this?
The kmod loads successfully, but afsd crashes when openafs-client starts (12 seconds later, in this case).
Moving to linux-lts works as a workaround.

@valerionew: This package only contains the userspace part of OpenAFS. The kernel modules are in openafs-modules (which depends on linux-headers) or openafs-modules-modules-dkms.
valerionew commented on 2022-10-17 13:54 (UTC)
Should this also need linux-headers?

Need to add libxcrypt to depends.

Hi Bevan, indeed, it is most likely this (unfortunate) outage. Thanks for pointing it out!
Bevan commented on 2021-10-25 11:26 (UTC)
Hi Jan. Could that be caused by this outage?

Hi all,
after updating the system, I have troubles using AFS (details follow) and I wonder if anyone experiences the same or potentially would know how to fix it.
The SW versions which I use: kernel 5.14.14-arch1-1, openafs 1.8.8-1 and openafs-modules 1.8.8-2. The first problem occurs when running aklog:
Then, trying to ls a directory on AFS, I get a time out:
Thanks in advance,
Jan.

Yes, it works for me now with: linux 5.14.8.arch1-1 openafs-modules-dkms 1.8.8-2
Thank you very much.

The potential RIP with kernel 5.14 should be fixed by openafs-modules-1.8.8-2 and openafs-modules-dkms-1.8.8-2. See https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/14826 for the ongoing review of the fix.
