Wanted to poke both comments from @stratus_ss and @ZeroDot1. There are new versions available, newest one here https://github.com/openaudible/openaudible/releases/tag/v4.5. Additionally, changing the Exec in the launcher to env WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 openaudible fixed the problem @stratus_ss mentioned about being unable to login on Wayland.

https://github.com/openaudible/openaudible/releases

The package is outdated and should be updated, there are now 2 newer versions.

As per the software devs: https://github.com/openaudible/openaudible/issues/1406#issuecomment-2496083917

The launcher should include: WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1

Otherwise you are unable to login. Can confirm this worked for me

@dreieck Thank you. Added a pkgdesc and cleaned up the options.

dreieck commented on 2023-04-26 09:53 (UTC)

I see you have the !strip option set.

Is it really needed?

I see if it gets removed, the size of the backage decreases slightly by 4.45M (version 3.7.5).

Regards!

Ahoj,

can you add a more descriptive $pkgdesc, please? e.g.

A cross-platform desktop application for downloading and managing your Audible audiobooks.

Regards and
thanks for maintaining.

Another application where the developer hates on Linux, the best option now is to use the AppImage, if like me you find this useful, are concerned about keeping apps updated and secure, or are fed up with ignoring the update nag... the update/install script hasn't worked for quite a while. The latest versions are no longer served from GitHub as per the PKGBUILD, they're now on the OpenAudible authors own website. Hash sums are not published.

AppImage: https://openaudible.org/latest/OpenAudible_x86_64.AppImage Deb: https://openaudible.org/latest/OpenAudible_x86_64.deb

Funnily (or not) enough the outdated 3.3 version is still available on GitHub, for now at least.

@Moo-Crumpus It should be fixed in the current beta. See: https://github.com/openaudible/openaudible/issues/481
