Thank you @dreieck, I had noticed that something wasn't working as intended. I tried your suggestions. Probably overkill with the epoch but it should be better now. I Like using date-based versioning instead of git's cryptic format.

Dear maintainer,

the package versioning scheme has changed: While here in the AUR we have version 1, the PKGBUILD now creates version r11.62ee97f, which is considered to be lower than 1 and confuses some update check scenarios.

So, since it changed, you must increase $epoch (if not set, set epoch=1).

But better would be if the versioning scheme still has upstream version as first part if that is available, and then the git stuff (for this you can refer e.g. to gr-foo-git or xfce4-taskbar-plugin-git).
