If they don't update at the same rate, a symlink may be a bad idea, but using vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs as a source like this package does with the snap should work, would that be a better way to do it?

Symlinking https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs/ to libffmpeg.so of opera117 enabled video of X/twitter without breaking YT.

ldd -r /pathto/opera is also passed. This means we can't determine real safe ver(116 or 118) of vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs. (Is replacing this with symlink a good choice?)

I also tested libavformat.so of ffmpeg. It just broke video.

I'll see if I can make it work later, don't have my computer set up properly rn. If It works with all three versions of opera I maintain this package for I'll switch the source and versioning over.

https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/v/vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs/ also lacks 117. However, URL is versioned. This may the best source .

https://releases.electronjs.org/releases/stable?page=32&limit=2 lacks 127 and does not provide the way to search by chromium ver. However, libffmpeg.so is avaiable.

I use vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs of Extra repo for some pkg checked by ldd -r bin.

@oech3 @MartinVonReich

The snap package has a few different versions of ffmpeg. I have absolutely no idea what the snap version numbers actually correspond to in terms of actual ffmpeg versions (other than bigger number is newer), but if you just try all of them one should work for vivaldi. You could probably repurpose the pkgbuild for this package to do the job. If I knew how to determine what the actual ffmpeg version numbers were I would be able to make this package's version number more useful.

@oech3

vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg-extra-bin is available for adoption. You can adjust by yourself.

But, no, Opera and Vivaldi will be using different versions of Chromium and FFmpeg is not cross-version-compatible with different major versions of Chromium. These two needs to be separate . . .

This package is, however, confusing because the versioning for each topic is not specified. Snap is out-of-scope when it comes to version number . . .

Is symlink package via vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs work? Just for fun.

I'm late but sounds like you guys are using either an arch fork that outdated or an outdated mirror. Should be fixed by now hopefully.
