This extension does not work anymore, as the GraphicsMagick library does not create anymore a link it created before. Once the Gmagick extension is installed, every PHP script shows the following warning.

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'gmagick.so' (tried: /usr/lib/php/modules/gmagick.so (libGraphicsMagickWand-Q16.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory), /usr/lib/php/modules/gmagick.so.so (/usr/lib/php/modules/gmagick.so.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)) in Unknown on line 0

The extra/graphicsmagick package is version 1.3.41-3. The files whose names start with libGraphicsMagick it installs directly in the /usr/lib directory are the following.

  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick++.la
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick++.so
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick++.so.12
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick++.so.12.7.0
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick.la
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick.so
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick.so.3
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagick.so.3.24.3
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagickWand.la
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagickWand.so
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagickWand.so.2
  • /usr/lib/libGraphicsMagickWand.so.2.9.8

@pedro_sland you're probably right, but it's on gmagick requirements and it doesn't interfere with nothing and theoretically someone can have disabled updates for those required packages ...

You can probably lose the >= now since php has been >5.1 for quite some time and graphicsmagick is 1.3.x.
