@MartB - I believe /etc/pihole was root:root under 2.11.x as well as the files within it.

There is an issue with this package the /etc/pihole directory is under root:root it should be under pihole:pihole for the database file to work correctly.

Not out-of-date: 2.12 is the current upstream stable.

I found the problem. It was with writing to the log ftl uses for the statistics. Long story short, https://github.com/graysky2/lxc-snapshots/commit/295fa23be84600860c4ef6877084ba73f2e1935d

OK... I have confirmed the problem is not with the package but with something in the container. Sorry for all the noise.

I am running pihole in an linux container... that might be the issue. I need to dig deeper. Version 2.10-1 is fine though.

ArchLinux Pi-hole is not officially supported by Pi-hole project. In case of bugs and malfunctions please DO NOT file a report upstream.
First of all check if the wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pi-hole) can help then ask here for assistance and tips.
When it will be excluded that the problem does not depend on ArchLinux we will file a bug upstream.
