This PKGBUILD hasnt been touched since 2015. The PKGBUILD "pmount" also hasnt been touched since 2018, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pmount

Several people have offered to adopt and maintain it. Please respond and eventually disown it if not willing to maintain it.

As already pointed out by other comments the "Upstream URL" also doesnt exist anymore.

See the comment at, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pmount

$url target does not exist: Server not found.

DNS resolving fails: dig pmount.alioth.debian.org | grep '.' | grep -v '^;':

Well, I never submitted anything upstream, and now it would require splitting it in a few patches (and probably some tweaking/rebasing now), and while I use this version of pmount I haven't looked at this code in quite some time... So honestly, as I don't really have time, nothing of the sort is really planned. But if you wanna do it yourself, feel free!

Any chance we could have this merged into the upstream source as well?

Yep, download link changed. PKGBUILD updated with the new link; and I also added /media to the package. Thanks.

==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check! ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build pmount-safe-removal. And link to .tar.bz2 in "Sources" is empty.

@simon04: done, thanks.

Please add conflicts=(pmount) to the PKGBUILD.

@jjacky I get it. Sorry about that. I did not realize that the disk has to be mounted by pmount for pumount to work.
