@elimik3: Hey,

I would like upstream to simply tag this 0.9.x release after that doing so we can just use gittag+refcount as pkgver. But yeah I'd skip buildate too.

I would take over this package.

@Thaodan:

Please adjust the pkgver function to match the internal version set by upstream

Thanks for the pointer. Upstream seems to use

PLUGIN_VERSION ?= 0.9.$(BUILD_DATE).git.r$(REVISION_ID)

But I can't use the BUILD_DATE in the pkgver, since I don't distribute builds, but the user of builds it, or am I misunderstanding? This REVISION_ID is defined via

REVISION_ID = $(shell git rev-parse --short HEAD 2>/dev/null)

Which is identifical to the code that we use for the second substring returned by pkgver after the dot. Do you propose removing the part before the dot?

==== On another note:

SEARCH FOR NEW MAINTAINTERS: I'm not longer using the package. So if someone else wants to maintain it, I would be glad to transfer maintainership or at least add a co-mainteiner

Thanks for noticing that @audeoudh, fixed the pkgver() with your suggestion.

audeoudh commented on 2021-01-27 15:12 (UTC)

The pkgver() function does not catch the correct version, because of a use of an undefined variable in the cd line. Please use that instead:

cd "$srcdir/$_pkgname"

This is a fork of the purple-rocketchat-hg PKGBUILD by Thaodan, I just changed the upstream URL which had changed from bitbucket/mercurial to github/git. This is my first PKGBUILD and first package maintained by me, I hope I didn't do anything I shouldn't, but I thought it's better to take initiative rather then wait until somebody else does so. I am using this not all to often and if anybody else wants to take over maintaining this, feel free to contact me.

Since this is kind of stale I created the git-version of the package suggested in my previous comment.

I guess it would make sense to upload the PKGBUILD with the source line suggested by @holytrousers as a purple-rocketchat-git aur package, right?

holytrousers commented on 2020-10-05 23:24 (UTC)

replace source=('hg+https://bitbucket.org/EionRobb/purple-rocketchat') with source=('git+https://github.com/EionRobb/purple-rocketchat')

Bitbucket no longer hosts mercurial repositories, could you update this package?
