Very good point! We'll see what becomes of that.

It may be possible to do that ThinkPad. But what about the big warning in front of the text?
altair_viewer does not yet support Altair 5.

ThinkPad commented on 2023-10-05 01:26 (UTC)

Would you please consider packaging altair_viewer?

These are good points. Maybe it's best you hold off until it's actually supported. Maybe by then what we actually need will be simple and specified. Thanks for taking a look.

Will take a look at this. But again no promises.
On a first glance it was somewhat confusing in its deps (provides something for altair but also depends on it?).
Then there is the question which python bindings need to be available (it seems the python-jupyter one? Or one of the others). Not really a problem if VegaFusion can be packaged as one big package. But it would also be a viable split package.

Would you also be able to package VegaFusion? VegaFusion support is scheduled for Altair 5.1. It helps with large datasets.

Works beautifully! Thank you!

I uploaded python-vl-convert and added this as optdep.
Please give it a try.

I would greatly appreciate that! Thank you!

Nothing against the proposal. I will a take a look at the mentioned python module.
If I succeed it will be uploaded and added as a optdep to this PKGBUILD.
