Thanks all. I can confirm it fails in a clean chroot. I've just disabled the test for now.

Same issue, attempted to build in cleanroot, same error as ticktok and sl1pkn07, "fixed" by removing check block from PKGBUILD
Edit: setup.py test is broken because was removed in setuptools version v72.0.0, that's the issue

I'm having the same failure installing with yay. "error: invalid command test". I tried to do a clean pkgbuild, but same issue.
edit: ended up just downloading and editing PKGBUILD and commenting out the
lines and it installed fine as far as I can tell.

This is due to setuptools changes in v72.0.0.

@sl1pkn07 works fine for me. You probably need to provide more information. Did you build in a clean chroot?
sl1pkn07 commented on 2024-10-27 19:47 (UTC)
check fail due
error: invalid command 'test'

I totally agree that there is no point keeping an old, deprecated, non-working version. Thanks for all that information. I've updated the package to point to the fork.

I can confirm that protonup-qt works with steam beta with python-vdf-solstice and python-steam-solstice installed, while it does not with the non-solstice versions installed.
(python-steam will need to be updated as well - not a fan of splitting out the packages, especially since the original packages are useless if they aren't updated and no longer work)

@Rhinoceros: Yes, it does--that was the point of the Solstice Python VDF & Steam forks since the upstream PR's have not been merged.

Thanks @lectrode and @yochananmarqos for the heads up. Can you confirm if the fork works for the beta? I'm a little bit wary to add a new random source until we know it's trustworthy. At the moment the fork is not starred by anyone, and it's still a bit rough (at least in the readme). I also can't find any comments about the veracity of the fork from elsewhere on the web. Also, at this stage I'm not entirely convinced it's "maintained" yet, since they have only added in three out of six pull requests from a while ago, and added no code themselves.
