The merge request has been merged. Could you please add the line

install -D debian/70-rpiboot.rules ${pkgdir}/usr/lib/udev/rules.d

to package()?

There is a udev rules file in the upstream repo that you could add to the package, so that people won't have to use sudo.

However I recommend to change its contents to

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0a5c", ATTR{idProduct}=="27[16][134]", TAG+="uaccess"

and rename it to 70-rpiboot.rules (it must run before 73-seat-late.rules) because the plugdev group is a bit oldfashioned and grants a lot of unneccessary permissions. The uaccess tag is the modern way of allowing local users access to devices.
