@LaughingMan , yes in Fedora we have pacman package, so it is possible build package from archlinux like [1] . Fedora also have dpkg and other Debian tools , so it is possible (in some cases ) build packages from another distribution and install it. Of course the package is not register in rpm database and is a big hack , but is fun and works.

Wait, Fedora? Fedora uses dnf, not pacman. Using -d also isn't exactly conductive for a working installation. Not to mention that the packages here are made for Arch and its derivatives like Manjaro; on Fedora they may or may not sacrifice your first born.

Whatever you did, it sounds very very cursed.

If your goal is to have sql-workbench installed on Fedora, I'd recommend figuring out how to create and install an RPM package. Unfortunately, I can't help you with that though. Never used Fedora myself.

PS: slfor is someone else.

@LaughingMan nice ! thank you .

I could install the sql-workbench package on my Linux Fedora box with

makepkg -d
pacman -U sql-workbench-127-1-any.pkg.tar.gz -dd

@sergiomb

pacman is for installing pre-built packages from the repositories. This is an AUR package so you need to build it yourself. Either use an AUR helper or do it manually by following the instructions here.

@sergiomb what do you mean?

sergiomb commented on 2021-10-22 13:48 (UTC)

why this package is not available anymore ? is updated

LaughingMan commented on 2020-02-26 09:09 (UTC)

@kik-mex: 1) Please don't flag packages out of date when you want to report an issue. Make a comment for that. This package tracks the stable version of SQL Workbench and is still up-to-date. 2) Your error is with the package mysql-workbench-git, not with sql-workbench.

Is anyone maintaining this anymore?
