sorry...what I posted below did not work as expected. This: depends=('sh' 'java-environment') [[ $CARCH == "x86_64" ]] && depends=("${depends[@]}" 'lib32-glibc') works as expected.

lib32-glibc is only a dependency for x86-64. Perhaps use an if [$CARCH = ] statement for dependencies: if [ "$CARCH" = "i686" ]; then depends('sh' 'java-environment') elif [ "$CARCH" = "x86_64" ]; then depends('sh' 'java-environment' 'lib32-glibc') fi
