But the permissions appear reasonable:

If you need more SunOS images for testing:
http://www.bitsavers.org/bits/Sun/sun3/
For SPARC, here's the source code:

I am so glad you got it working. I was going to say that you might be missing some dependencies. That is what is usually the case for me when I encounter a segfault. Note that the dependencies in the PKGBUILD are optional, so they need to be explicitly installed if you need that functionality.
But it could also be something else - some kind of conflict again. It looks like you might have gotten around that possibility with a clean system. Unfortunately, I have mostly tested with NetBSD. I haven't done much testing with SunOS yet - not beyond getting past the install anyway. I am going to try your package next and go through all the steps. I will report back my findings and see if there is anything that can be done there. Thank you for trying it out!

I got it to work! Only took me three steps, but the "install KDE with Wayland" part was time consuming.
grab an install arch qcow2 from https://geo.mirror.pkgbuild.com/images/
run it in KVM/QEMU/libvirt/virt-manager
install KDE with Wayland
But it locks up at random when I'm installing SunOS 4.1.1. The first time it locked up right after booting the mini-root and the second time it locked up in format while printing an empty partition table.
For the installation steps I used, see "The SunOS bits" in this repo https://github.com/ambiamber/Run-Sun3-SunOS-4.1.1

I'm sad.
The SUN3 config file works with TME 0.8 on the same computer. For details see https://github.com/ambiamber/Run-UNIX-v9

I'm glad to know that it might be of some use to you. It's not too much of an improvement really. Mainly just some minor bug fixes. Hopefully, it will improve the keyboard handling a little. There are still some things coming down the pipeline. The tme-git AUR package should track things a little more closely between releases. Note that the git repo is back on github due to the weird issues with OSDN. You can set the GTKMAJ environment variable to gtk3 if you need to compile for that. Enjoy!
