@Speranskiy: I'll need a good reason to. I have not touched this for quite a while but I recall setuptools needed for installation, but removable afterward (as suits a make dependency).

Alternatively, as I no longer use nor actively maintain this, I will happily orphan it if you'll take it on, and then you can do whatever you like to it.
