the latest updates added some strange characters 0xF015 was declared by font-awesome before is now a weird tilde. Is this expected? Because 0xF015-0xF01D and 0xF02D-0xF030 are nearly all the same character

@StormEngineer That's a problem with whatever mirror Sourceforge has directed you at. You can change it manually to one you can reach by changing the _dlpath in the PKGBUILD or messing about with your DNS resolution to override the domain to a working mirror, but that's up to you to download the files not this package. Sorry!

alerque commented on 2020-05-28 15:26 (UTC)

@Lenry You can replace the base url in $_dlpath to the base of a mirror that works for you. Unfortunately we won't be able to do that for the package itself. It's specifically against Arch's guidelines to hard code a specific mirror. The Sourceforge redirections work for most locations/situations and are better than pointing at one mirror.

For me it's trying to download from a non-working mirror (Liquid Telecom of Kenya) If I choose an other mirror from the website, I can download the files, but I can't figure out how to define a mirror in the PKGBUILD

It might be a problem with SourceForge, but currently the font download keeps timing out.

@MuLDeRiZed or @merlock can you elaborate on that? If there is something this package should add like a conflicts=() I'd like to know about it.

Please do not depend on any of fontconfig, xorg-font-utils, or xorg-font-encodings. These are all obsolete and make the system do duplicate work as well as make container builds heavier than they need to be.

@chennux: I tried with old PKGBUILD and it works.

Fonts are downloaded flawlessly.

The link of the fonts was modified ; fonts are now here : http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the%20fonts/final/

Currently, we must modify the PKGBUILD in order to complete the installation of the fonts.

(The Ubuntu package has a similar bug).
