How about adding provides=('ttf-font')? https://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2013-January/024252.html

This *could* be considered as an option if ms-fonts were installed in a separate folder. Since they are installed in /usr/share/fonts/TTF I guess we have to stick with what arch recommends for ttf fonts packages install scripts.

There are some problems with encodings other than UTF-8. For example, in some applications using these fonts in cp-1251 encoding, you might lose Russian symbols after each update of ttf-ms-fonts - these symbols would transform 'glyphs'. One have to manually issue the following commands to fix this: cd /usr/share/fonts/TTF sudo mkfontscale -a microsoft-cp1251 sudo mkfontdir Please consider inserting these or similar commands in post-install script for them to be executed automatically on update.

You should have ttf-ms-fonts.install in the same folder with the PKGBUILD when you are trying to makepkg. This file is contained in the tarball (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tt/ttf-ms-fonts/ttf-ms-fonts.tar.gz)

I got: $ makepkg ==> ERROR: install file (ttf-ms-fonts.install) does not exist. $ I downloaded all the .exe's individually and did manual install. Thanks very much for this - I've finally been able to finish my CV!

Works for me. Try manually downloading each exe file to your build directory from http://sourceforge.net/projects/corefonts/files/the fonts/final/

Every single file fails the validity check for me, and does so every time I've tried to update. I'm on x86_64, and it fails both with yaourt and with standard makepkg.

@sanderd17: Considering it uses the same pkgbuild for both 32-bit and 64-bit, it's probably an issue with your AUR helper. Try downloading the tarball and running makepkg?

the letter 'e' looks bad after this install.I would suggest everyone here to install trebuchet font from Windows 7 installation if you think the 'e' looks ugly at some webpages.
