You use steam version to make your adaptation without the autorization of Steam. There is no UT2004 steam Linux version, your package is illegal it constitutes some unauthorized modifications of copyrighted materials. We will see about this with the Arch AUR moderator...

I am confused as to why this is a problem? The user can do this manually without the help of any of these scripts. There are probably other scripts such as these available to do this using the Steam version but does not package the game into a package you can use for your own use. Please note I am in no way distributing game files other than the patch that just about every game site distributes. The user just downloads the package, enters their steam details and it downloads the steam version. The script then copies in the patch as you would with the optical game copy. So unless I hear otherwise I am a firm believer that there is nothing wrong with the scripts that are part of this package. Also for the record the people I would consult would not be Valve but would be Epic Games as it is their game not Valve's. Also for the record Epic games created the patch and the Mac version to enable just this use case so unless I hear anything from Epic or Valve I am not going to be deleting this package or anything like that.

You can do it with the CD version but there is no installer for Steam version. You don't have the authorisation of Valve to use their version of UT2004 and adapt it to Linux. The game in steam is marked as Windows only.

Elrondo46 what on earth are you talking about? This just downloads an unmodified copy of ut2004 from steam using steamcmd. It then downloads a patch created by the original publisher of the game which is yet again... not modified. Also bundled with the package is a script that requests the serial for the game and writes it into the file which the publishers Linux files looks for it. None of this is illegal and is just an automation of what was a manual process that you used to have to do with the original CD version of the game (which I owned and did this process multiple times). However having no optical drive in my computer anymore I decided to port the process to the steam version of the game.

Modification of a copyrghted game without editor agreement is not authorized by law.

Checked out the version in my git repository (Pretty sure that the one in the AUR is that version) and tested it, it worked fine so just in case I reuploaded it to the AUR. The latest version of this package can always be found at: https://github.com/demon012/archlinux-package-ut2004-steam Please test the new version, if it is still not working for you please let me know.

There's an error in the PKGBUILD. First, there's no package(), so I changed build() to package(). Then, it couldn't find the lnxpatch file. When I found one elsewhere, I got an error starting package(): "chmod: cannot operate on dangling symlink /{my home builds dir}/ut2004-steam/pkg/ut2004-steam/usr/bin/ut2004-install chmod: cannot operate on dangling symlink /{my home builds dir}/ut2004-steam/pkg/ut2004-steam/usr/bin/ut2004-update" I'm afraid I don't know how to fix that.
