True. Thank you!

@Tio: VCS packages pull from the latest commit, just rebuild it. Some AUR helpers have options to check development packages for updates, check the documentation. There's also a release version of this package as an alternative.

I see. Then how do I get updates for this package? Say there is a new release, how is it pushed to my system through something like Pamac?

yochananmarqos commented on 2020-11-29 01:12 (UTC)

@Tio: No. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_User_Repository#Flagging_packages_out-of-date

Tio commented on 2020-11-29 01:10 (UTC)

Should I mark this as out of date since it was a new version released https://github.com/vinceliuice/vimix-gtk-themes/releases/tag/2020-11-28 ?

@sQVe: The PKGBUILD depends on gtk-engines-murrine and gtk-engines. However, these packages are only required for the GTK2 theme. For packages contained in the repositories, such as materia-gtk-theme or arc-gtk-theme, these are optional dependencies instead. Could you move these dependencies to optdepends as well? For example:

optdepends=('gtk-engines-murrine: for gtk2 themes'
            'gtk-engines: for gtk2 themes')

@yochananmarqos This is now fixed.

Please add the -a flag, it's now required to install all variants:

  /install.sh -a -d "$pkgdir/usr/share/themes"

That looks like a bug upstream. I’ve submitted an issue so hopefully it’ll be fixed soon (EDIT: It has been fixed). If not the package maintainer can of course fix it themselves

It also looks like the install script only installs the doder themes by default now. You explicitly need the -a flag to install all the theme variants, so the maintainer should add that in.

P.S.: Could the maintainer also add !strip to the options array? The stripping seems to take a while on my system, but AFAIK it’s just wasting time looping through files, as I don’t think there are any files to strip.
