IIRC support stopped in December, hence I migrated to virtualbox 7, to gain some time to at least migrate the Windows 11 guest to QEMU/KVM. For other purposes I'm already a Virtual Machine Manager QEMU/KVM user. At the moment I just don't have the time to learn how to get file sharing working between Virtual Machine Manager QEMU/KVM guests and the host. Fortunately even Windows 11 does run as virtualbox 7 guest. Just the Windows 11 shutdown doesn't finish, so I need to pkill the virtualbox host related processes. Fortunately it doesn't have impact on the next start of the Windows 11 guest.

"VirtualBox 6.1.50 (released January 16 2024)", so I was wrong with December.

virtualbox 6.1 is no longer supported by upstream (support ended in january/2024). The last supported kernel in the upstream changelog is linux 6.6 (initial support). Kernel 6.8 is definitively not supported. You should use linux-lts for running this package, as it's currently at version 6.6. If it cannot work with the lts kernel 6.6, I will delete it from the AUR, as, already stated, it's not supported anymore by upstream and prone to errors with newer kernels.

core/linux 6.8.7.arch1-1

$ cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/disk/by-label/m1.archlinux ro threadirqs ibt=off ipv6.disable=1

I can't provide logs, since I migrated to extra/virtualbox 7.0.16-1.

What kernel are you using?

metoo - I cannot start any VMs anylonger; they all go into guru meditation.

Could you still start Windows guests with virtualbox6.1-bin 6.1.50-1 or do you also experience guru meditations? I'm currently trying extra/virtualbox 7.0.16-1, which gets rid of the gurus, but so far a Windows 11 guest is not doing well.
